Job Summary
CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: We will only consider candidates proficient in Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent systems: 7450 ESS, 7750 SR, and 7950 XRS.
We are seeking a Senior Telecommunications Technical Support Engineer to provide Tier II and Tier III expert-level remote technical support. This is a 100% remote role requiring the ability to work within the United States. You will troubleshoot and repair complex telecommunications platforms, resolving systemic and global network issues. As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical guidance to peers and develop essential job aids and procedural documentation.
Essential Functions
- Remote Technical Support: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to perform advanced troubleshooting on a broad array of telecom platforms, identifying root causes and restoring functionality.
- Documentation & Validation: Develop and maintain system configurations and procedures. Test and validate new equipment and software releases while logging all research in a ticketing application.
- Incident Response: Respond to incidents in a timely manner and perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA).
- Technology Leadership: Stay current with advancements in telecom tech, recommend upgrades, and provide training and guidance to team members.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in OEM-level troubleshooting and repair for supported systems. Telecommunications carrier or OEM experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Subject matter expert level understanding of Nokia 7450 ESS, 7750 SR, 7950 XRS, switched Ethernet, MPLS, and IP services.
- Network Analysis: Ability to trace complex troubles through networks with multiple platforms in a data path to determine root cause.
- Systems Proficiency: Experience with EMS systems, network management, and monitoring tools.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or IT preferred.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the USA.
