Two (2) internship positions are being offered to undergraduate college students this summer to further their education. Students applying for an internship are encouraged to be interested in networking, data management, and hands-on work with IT technical assets.All applicants will be considered based on their application or experience.
About the Internship:
Interns work in the Department of Information Technology supporting the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) during the busy summer season. Interns are part of the DoIT Parks team. They will assist with installing and troubleshooting software and hardware at all DPR sites.
The primary responsibility of this position is to service DPR's Point of Sale (POS) devices, primarily located at Prince William community pools and water parks, necessitating access to a car for consistent travel between sites to provide technical support as needed. The preferred candidate should showcase:
Familiarity with DPR's main application, "RecTrac," would be beneficial.
The main work location will be at George Hellwig Memorial Park Administrative Building (14420 Bristow Rd, Manassas, VA 20112).
Lengthof Internship:Internships will generally start in late April and end in early September. Exact dates will be agreed on at the time of hire.
Other Information
Interns are paid $18/hour, depending on experience. The schedule includes 20-25 hours per week, as needed, with shifts spanning 4-5 hours. Assignments may involve work either in the office or out in the field.
Interns are required to work every Saturday and Sunday, as well as Holidays.
Driving: Interns must have a valid driver’s license and will be expected to drive to various park locations. There is option of using the county car, if eligible. All interns must complete a Driving Authorization form and specified driving courses offered by the county.
