Job Title: Construction Technician

Job Description

The Construction Technician works in the field performing general labor to support underground pipe installation and related construction activities. This role involves assisting pipelayers with preparation work, moving and positioning pipe, and completing physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments and trenches. The position is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, and eager to learn and grow within the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties on construction sites to support pipe installation and related activities.
• Move and position pipe for installation and assist pipelayers with preparation work.
• Dig with shovels and perform heavy lifting to transport and place pipes in designated locations.
• Work safely and effectively in trenches ranging from approximately 4 feet to 16 feet deep.
• Learn and become familiar with construction materials, tools, and equipment used on the job.
• Use hand tools and other basic construction tools to complete daily tasks.
• Stay productive throughout the day by identifying and completing tasks without needing constant direction.
• Follow all safety procedures and site rules while working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Travel to different job sites as needed within the local area.
• Arrive on time each day, prepared to work full shifts and overtime as required.

Essential Skills

• Previous work experience in the construction or landscaping field.
• Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including digging, heavy lifting, and working in trenches.
• Comfort working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to work safely in trenches ranging from approximately 4 feet to 16 feet deep.
• Proficiency using basic hand tools commonly used in construction.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to stay busy and productive without constant supervision.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Experience working in general labor roles on construction sites.
• Experience in landscaping that involved physical outdoor work.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tasks and materials.

Work Environment

This role is entirely field-based and takes place outdoors on active construction sites. The workday typically begins at 6:00 a.m. with no fixed end time, and shifts commonly run 8 or more hours depending on weather and project needs. There is potential for up to 8 hours of overtime per week. The position requires frequent travel to job sites across Colorado Springs, Fountain, and Monument. The environment involves working in trenches, handling heavy materials, and using hand tools, so comfort with physical labor and outdoor conditions is essential

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
