Job Title: Mold Remediation Technician
Job Description

The Mold Remediation Technician assists in identifying, containing, and removing mold contamination in residential and commercial environments. This is a hands-on, physically active role ideal for someone who wants to learn environmental cleanup, restoration, and safety procedures while working closely with experienced technicians in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior technicians in inspecting affected areas, identifying moisture and water intrusion sources, and documenting site conditions.
  • Assist with setting up containment areas, including installing plastic barriers, negative air machines, and other systems to prevent mold spore spread.
  • Perform physical mold removal tasks such as HEPA vacuuming, wiping, scrubbing, and safely disposing of contaminated materials.
  • Operate HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers, dehumidifiers, and other drying equipment under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including respirator use, and adhere to OSHA and EPA safety guidelines.
  • Assist with moisture control efforts by helping to dry affected areas, monitoring humidity levels, and identifying potential water sources.
  • Support demolition and basic construction activities as needed to remove affected materials and prepare areas for repair or reconstruction.
  • Help clean work areas, remove debris, and prepare spaces for restoration work.
  • Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for tasks related to mold remediation, drywall, and basic carpentry.
  • Document work performed as directed, including conditions, actions taken, and materials removed.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Comfort working in tight or confined spaces, including crawling into small areas when required.
  • Willingness to work in damp or wet environments and in areas affected by mold and asbestos.
  • Experience using basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic carpentry skills and familiarity with general construction or demolition work.
  • Good attention to detail when following procedures and completing tasks.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn how to operate specialized equipment such as HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers, and dehumidifiers.
  • Reliability and willingness to follow safety protocols, including PPE and respirator use.
  • Comfort performing general labor tasks on residential and commercial job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in cleaning, construction, general labor, carpentry, drywall, or demolition is beneficial.
  • Mechanically inclined and eager to learn new tools, equipment, and remediation techniques.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a close-knit field team.

Work Environment

Work takes place on residential and commercial job sites within approximately a 1.5-hour radius of Chambersburg. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with work performed in a variety of conditions, including damp or wet environments and areas affected by mold and asbestos. The role involves frequent physical activity such as lifting, bending, and working in tight or confined spaces. Technicians use a range of equipment including HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers, dehumidifiers, and standard hand and power tools, and they follow all required PPE and safety procedures while on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
