Job Description

This role supports a new prototype initiative for precise tubing within the Lightspeed project. You will perform detailed inspections using a microscope, work with precise measuring tools, and contribute to high-accuracy assembly and repair tasks. The position requires exceptional attention to detail and strong hand–eye coordination to ensure components meet tight tolerances and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections of components and assemblies using a microscope to ensure they meet precise specifications and tight tolerances.
  • Use precise measuring tools to verify dimensions, alignment, and quality of parts throughout the production process.
  • Assemble, repair, and service mechanical and electrical components as part of the prototype and production workflow.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and schematics to build, test, and troubleshoot assemblies.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in production and prototype equipment.
  • Use hand tools safely and effectively to complete assembly, adjustment, and repair tasks.
  • Document inspection results and communicate findings to the engineering team to support ongoing design and process improvements.
  • Maintain a cleanroom work area in accordance with established procedures to protect product quality and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to support prototype development, testing, and refinement.
  • Follow all production, inspection, and safety procedures to ensure consistent quality and reliable operation.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience performing inspections with a microscope.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom environment and follow cleanroom protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent hand–eye coordination for precision work.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical assembly and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Skill in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in a production or prototype setting.
  • Proficiency using precise measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Comfort using common hand tools in a production or technical environment.
  • Experience working in a production environment with tight tolerances and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in inspection work within a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
  • Previous experience supporting engineering teams on prototype or development projects.
  • Familiarity with service and maintenance of technical or industrial equipment.
  • Interest in developing toward an associate engineer role over time.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethel, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $45.26/hr.
