Job Description

We are looking for an experienced product manager to join our Merchant Onboarding and Servicing API team and drive modernization of the merchant onboarding experience through digital, and automation led solutions. This role will own and evolve API-driven products that power merchant onboarding experiences for partners, ISVs, and internal platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with API-first product management, must be able to translate complex business and operational needs into well defined user stories and API contracts, collaborate deeply with engineering and architecture teams, manage cross team dependencies, and drive modernization of the merchant onboarding experience.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver developer-first APIs for the onboarding experience, including standards, documentation readiness, sandbox/LA/GA planning, partner onboarding workflows, and adoption enablement.
• Own and maintain the product backlog for Merchant Onboarding APIs, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer outcomes. Develop actionable user stories and acceptance criteria that engineers and architects can execute against with minimal ambiguity.
• Partner closely with engineering and architecture teams to define API designs, contracts, and integration patterns (REST, webhooks, event driven flows). Participate in API design reviews, ensuring consistency, reusability, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
• Act as the voice of the customer and developer, incorporating feedback to continuously improve the onboarding experience. Ensure APIs are intuitive, well documented, and optimized for partner and developer adoption.
• Focus on AI-enabled onboarding solutions, working with the Agentic Commerce teams to identify opportunities to build agent-ready interfaces.
• Drive API lifecycle management, including versioning, backward compatibility, and deprecation strategies. Validate and test APIs using tools such as Postman to ensure functional and non functional requirements are met.
• Leverage OpenAPI / Swagger for development of API specifications and create and maintain APIs in the Sandbox Environment.
• Monitor operational metrics, incidents, and production issues, partnering with support and engineering teams to drive resolution and prevent recurrence.
• Track and report success metrics such as adoption, time to integrate, onboarding cycle time, and support volume.

Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of Product Management experience, with a strong focus on API products, including defining requirements, collaborating on design, and supporting integrations.
• Hands on experience creating and managing API specifications using Swagger / OpenAPI
• Practical experience testing APIs using Postman or similar tools
• Experience in publishing and managing APIs in a Developer Portal
• Familiarity with API governance, standards, and lifecycle management
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, authentication mechanisms, and API best practices
• Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams in a highly regulated environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery models

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with merchant onboarding and servicing, payments, underwriting, risk, and regulatory compliance domains
• Experience supporting both internal enterprise users (e.g. sales, operations) and external partners or developers
• Background in large-scale platform modernization, cloud migration, or enterprise transformation initiatives
• AI literacy, including working knowledge of how AI/ML, automation, and generative AI can be applied to improve product experience, operational efficiency, decisioning, and developer workflows.

Why Join This Team
• Work on API first products that directly impact merchant onboarding efficiency and scale
• Influence platform level decisions and shape the future of onboarding experiences
• Collaborate with experienced product, engineering, and payments leaders
• Opportunity to build highly visible, externally consumed APIs in a growing ecosystem
