WSP is seeking an experienced Team Leader – Project Planning to lead and strengthen the planning function within the Transportation & Infrastructure PMO. The role is responsible for driving excellence in programme development, schedule governance, forecasting accuracy, planning standards, and integrated programme assurance. The position reports directly to the Head of Department, operating as a senior leadership role enabling strategic delivery and operational efficiency.
This role requires a seasoned planning professional with deep experience across major programmes, strong team leadership capability, and the skill to standardize and optimize planning processes within a global delivery environment.
Lead, mentor, and develop a large planning team (approx. 20+ staff) to ensure high performance, engagement, and capability uplift.
Conduct regular team reviews, planning competency assessments, development planning, and succession planning aligned with PMO requirements.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the planning community and wider PMO environment
Set and maintain standards, methodologies, and working practices for project planning across major transportation and infrastructure programmes.
Ensure alignment with WSP’s Business Management System, governance frameworks, and standardized PMO processes.
Oversee development and maintenance of integrated project/programme schedules, including baselining, critical path analysis, interfaces, dependencies, logic validation, and performance metrics.
Establish and monitor integrated project baselines, WBS structures, forecast models, and performance metrics.
Provide planning guidance and mentoring to Senior/Consultant/Assistant Planners, ensuring planning outputs support proactive decision‑making.
Review and challenge project schedules to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with scope, delivery constraints, and risk exposure.
Streamline and optimize project planning workflows, templates, dashboards, and reporting cycles for consistency and efficiency across the PMO.
Identify planning bottlenecks and lead improvement initiatives supported by data‑driven insights and planning analytics.
Support the adoption and maturity of digital planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, PMIS, automation workflows) to enhance forecasting and reporting accuracy.
Work closely with Head, Team Leader – Operations, Project Managers, Finance, and Delivery leads to ensure alignment across cost, schedule, and project performance.
Support issue escalation, variance analysis, and governance reviews with senior leadership.
Interface regularly with UK delivery teams and other global stakeholders to maintain harmonized planning methodologies, standards, and reporting expectations
