Position Description

The Team Lead in our manufacturing facilities plays a crucial role in supporting daily medical device manufacturing operations at Applied Medical. By driving production efficiency, quality compliance, and effective team performance within regulated environments, this role is instrumental in monitoring labor performance, supporting production schedules, and reinforcing clear communication across manufacturing teams.

Partnering closely with manufacturing leadership and cross-functional teams, the Team Lead helps ensure accurate implementation of engineering documentation, adherence to quality standards, and continuous improvement on the production floor.

This position will have support opportunities at several Applied Medical locations, including our Rancho Santa Margarita and Lake Forest manufacturing facilities.

We offer 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift schedules with various weekly schedule options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage data analytics to monitor and analyze daily labor times, key performance indicators, and production metrics, using web-based applications and manufacturing tracking systems
  • Collaborate with production leadership to develop and support daily manufacturing schedules, ensuring output and quality objectives are consistently met
  • Train and onboard new production team members by sharing institutional process knowledge and reinforcing world-class production and quality standards
  • Serve as a communication conduit, reinforcing guidance from team leaders to ensure instructions are clearly understood across the production floor
  • Review engineering drawings, shop order operations, and manufacturing sequences to optimize efficiency and accuracy in production activities
  • Perform detailed quality inspections using appropriate tools and equipment to confirm compliance with rigorous quality standards
  • Maintain production line supply levels, ensuring required materials, components, and manufacturing documentation are readily available
  • Partner closely with manufacturing, quality, and support teams to address safety, quality, efficiency, and team member issues, escalating to leadership as needed

  • Consistently meeting or exceeding production and quality goals through effective coordination and hands-on support
  • Rapidly training new team members to achieve timely proficiency in critical manufacturing processes
  • Maintaining accurate labor tracking, performance metrics, and production data to inform operational decision-making
  • Facilitating clear, timely, and effective communication between production teams and leadership
  • Upholding the highest standards of safety, organization, and quality compliance in all manufacturing environments
  • Fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement across the production team

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend work and safety instructions
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Experience working in clean room and laboratory manufacturing environments
  • Dexterity to perform repetitive tasks requiring excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, for documentation and tracking

Preferred

The following skills and attributes are preferred:

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving aptitude to address production process challenges
  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, particularly SAP
