Hybrid working

If you enjoy tax work that goes beyond getting returns out the door, this is worth a look

A lot of Tax Manager roles talk about advisory work.

Plenty still end up being mostly compliance, with the better conversations happening somewhere above you, around you, or just out of reach.

This independent CPA firm in Grapevine, TX is growing in the right way, with a client base that is asking more from their accountants than just getting returns filed on time. Yes, there is core compliance work. That will always be part of the role. But alongside that sits a growing stream of consulting and tax planning work that keeps things more interesting across the year.

So you are not just looking backwards.

You are part of the conversations that shape what clients do next.

That is a big part of the appeal here. It gives you the chance to stay close to the technical side, while also getting involved in more thoughtful, higher value work with clients who want advice, not just compliance.

It is also a smart time to make a move like this. Joining a new firm over the summer gives you the chance to get settled properly, build relationships, and head into the fall deadlines from a much stronger position.

How to apply (without the fuss)

Most people overthink job ads. You don’t need 100% of the bullets to start a conversation.

If this sounds right, apply. The button isn’t a marriage proposal, it’s a conversation starter.

If Linked In hides it, I’m Alex Alcock (Distinct). I’m around from 6am CST and after 5pm CST.

Sitting at ~87% of the spec? Perfect. Apply anyway. The CPA firms I partner with want interesting people, not corporate clones.

Don’t overthink it. Worst case, we have a useful chat about your next step.

Best case? You’ve just found the last firm you’ll need for a long time.
