Tax Manager

Aligned Solutions is seeking a an experienced and client-focused Tax Manager with a strong background in small to mid-sized CPA firm environments. This individual will play a key role in managing client relationships, reviewing complex tax engagements, and leading a team of tax professionals. This position has the opportunity for partner track.

In addition to oversight responsibilities, this role is hands-on and will require active involvement in tax preparation, accounting, and client deliverables. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and people-oriented, with a proven ability to mentor staff while also rolling up their sleeves to support client work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust clients, serving as the primary point of contact
• Review and finalize federal and state tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlines
• Prepare complex tax returns and assist with accounting and payroll engagements as needed
• Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services tailored to client needs
• Oversee and participate in the preparation of tax provisions and financial reporting related to tax matters
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff and senior accountants, fostering professional development and team growth
• Manage workflow, delegation, and project timelines across multiple engagements
• Balance hands-on client work with review responsibilities, similar to a partner-level “player-coach” model
• Stay current on tax laws and regulations, advising clients and internal teams on relevant changes
• Assist with practice development, including identifying opportunities for additional services within existing client relationships
• Ensure adherence to firm policies, procedures, and quality control standards
