Tax Manager
The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Company’s tax function, including management of tax compliance processes and the full annual reporting cycle. This role will manage external tax advisors and review prepared filings, while focusing internally on tax strategy, structuring, and cross-functional execution.
This is not a traditional tax return preparation role. The position is highly integrated with business operations and will work closely with legal, accounting, development, and project finance teams.
The role spans multiple tax disciplines, including:
· State and local tax matters (sales & use tax, property tax strategy and research)
· Federal income tax planning and oversight
· Renewable energy tax credit compliance and structuring, including:
o Section 48 Investment Tax Credit and Section 48E Clean Electricity Investment Credit
o Prevailing Wage & Apprenticeship (PWA) requirements
o Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) rules
o Tax credit structuring, including transfers and tax equity structures
o ITC insurance processes and diligence
· International tax matters, including Canada

Key Qualifications & Desired Characteristics:
· Bachelor’s Degree and 4–8 years of relevant experience
· Background in public accounting
· Direct experience in renewable energy / solar development required
· CPA, or Masters in Taxation strongly preferred
Technical Experience:
· Working knowledge of:
o Section 48 / 48E tax credits (PWA, FEOC, ITC insurance, credit monetization)
o Sales & use taxes, other multi-state considerations
o Federal income tax planning and partnership taxation
Core Competencies:
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
· Project management skills with ability to prioritize across multiple workstreams
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; team-oriented mindset

Tax Compliance Oversight (Externally Managed)
· Manage outside CPA firms and advisors in preparation of:
o Federal and state income tax filings (including partnership returns)
o Sales and use tax filings
o Property tax filings
· Review tax returns and filings for accuracy and completeness
· Ensure timely and efficient completion of all compliance requirements

Renewable Energy Tax Credits & Structuring
· Participate in and support structuring discussions with project finance teams and external counsel, including:
o Section 48 and 48E credits
o PWA and FEOC compliance
o Determination of project tax basis
o Structuring of ITC transfers and tax equity partnerships
· Manage and coordinate ITC insurance policies and related diligence
· Assist with review of cost certifications, cost segregation studies, and project appraisals

· Coordinate with procurement and operations teams on:
o Beginning of construction planning
o Documentation required to support tax credit eligibility
· Partner with development, finance, and legal teams throughout the project lifecycle
· Provide tax input into project economics and structuring decisions

· Participate in corporate tax planning and structuring initiatives
· Provide technical guidance on federal, state, and international tax matters
