Tax Director

Distinct | North America
Fort Lauderdale, FL

Tax Manager | Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale | Hybrid

What if you could work on complex tax engagements without feeling like your entire life revolves around busy season?

This firm offers 5 weeks PTO, Summer Fridays, firm wide disconnect days, and a hybrid schedule that allows you to spend around half your time working from home.

The result is a culture where people enjoy what they do and aren't constantly looking for the exit.

Backed by a large regional footprint, and a broad range of sophisticated clients, this firm offers the kind of resources and career opportunities often associated with national firms, without the feeling of being just another number in the system.

The work is challenging, the clients are sophisticated, and the expectations are high, but burnout isn't part of the business model.

Why people join

Many Tax Managers and Directors reach a point where they're no longer looking for another compliance heavy role.

They want more interesting conversations. More advisory work. Better client relationships. More flexibility. Less bureaucracy.

That's exactly what this opportunity offers.

You'll work with professional service firms, high net worth individuals, families, and related entities on a variety of complex tax matters. This is a highly visible, client facing role where you'll become a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate challenges and opportunities rather than simply reviewing returns after the fact.

The firm has invested heavily in technology, processes, and people, allowing the team to focus on delivering value rather than fighting unnecessary internal battles.

Benefits

5 weeks PTO, Summer Fridays, firm wide disconnect days, hybrid working, strong healthcare benefits, retirement planning options, and a leadership team that understands there is more to life than work.

What you'll be doing

You'll manage complex tax engagements from start to finish, review returns across individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, S Corporations, and gift tax, advise clients on strategic tax matters, and help develop junior members of the team. You'll also have the opportunity to get involved in consulting and advisory projects that go well beyond traditional compliance work.

What they're looking for

  • Active CPA or EA
  • 6+ years of Public Accounting tax experience
  • Strong technical experience across individual, partnership, S Corporation, trust, estate, and gift taxation
  • Comfortable managing client relationships directly
  • Experience with CCH, ideally CCH Axcess
  • Someone who enjoys both the technical and advisory side of tax
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills

If you're looking for challenging work, quality clients, and a firm that understands you have a life outside the office, I'd love to tell you more.
