Mission Intelligence Group is seeking an Expert Systems Engineer to help lead complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering efforts that directly support GEOINT mission success. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who thrives in high‑impact environments and enjoys shaping enterprise‑level solutions. You will work closely with government partners to ensure the delivery of reliable, resilient, and mission‑aligned capabilities.
Your Role
As an Expert Systems Engineer, you will guide engineering teams and advise government stakeholders on requirements, systems integration, technical planning, and solution design. You will help translate mission needs into actionable system requirements, lead analytical assessments, and ensure systems across the NSG, ASG, DIE, and broader IC operate cohesively. Your work will directly influence the performance, reliability, and evolution of GEOINT systems.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert-level support in requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, and systems analysis.
Lead or assist with integration, test and evaluation, maintainability assessments, and cloud workflow reviews.
Advise on solution design changes, emerging technologies, and architectural impacts.
Translate mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements.
Support requirements allocation across system architecture components.
Perform and lead systems integration activities.
Conduct AoAs, CoAs, Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
Support strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design.
Provide expert guidance on vision, strategy, plans, requirements, and capability development.
Lead integration efforts across NGA, the DIE, and the IC.
Oversee and coordinate work across Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level Systems Engineers.
Apply deep knowledge of the DIE, NSG/ASG, and NRO enterprises.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Systems Engineering and 15+ years, or Bachelor's degree and 18+ years in engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, IT, MIS, or related STEM fields.
Expert-level experience in DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements, PPBES, or engineering large complex systems (SoS, SOA, Cloud).
Demonstrated experience with the systems engineering lifecycle.
Desired Qualifications
Doctorate in Systems Engineering or related STEM field.
Working knowledge of:
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
MBSE tools, processes, and languages
Certifications:
Software Development Framework certification
INCOSE ESEP
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
Professional organization involvement (membership or leadership):
ACSM
ASCE
ASPRS
OGC
SAREM
USGIF
Demonstrated experience in:
GEOINT, photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, GIS, geomatics
Engineering solutions using Cloud technologies
Engineering solutions using Big Data (structured & unstructured)
Engineering solutions using Automation, Augmentation, and AI
