Systems Engineer IV (Full Time, Contract-To-Hire/Hybrid, 1 Remote Day/On-Call Rotations)

Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a Systems Engineer to support large-scale 5G initiatives across core and RAN environments. This role focuses on deployments, upgrades, and release management within CAPEX-driven projects, working closely with planning and design teams to validate and implement solutions from lab through production. The engineer will play a critical role in supporting system upgrades and nationwide network enhancements, leveraging technologies such as AWS, OpenShift, and Linux-based platforms. This position requires a strong foundation in telecom architecture, hands-on experience with system-level engineering, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in fast-paced, production environments. The ideal candidate brings experience in 5G core and/or RAN, proficiency in Python for automation and data handling, and a proactive mindset suited for on-call rotations and high-impact infrastructure work.



Responsibilities:

  • Execute deployments, upgrades, and release management across 5G core and RAN environments
  • Partner with planning and design teams to support testing, validation, and production implementations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in live production environments with urgency
  • Support CAPEX-driven initiatives, including system upgrades and network enhancements
  • Assist in the implementation and integration of new network infrastructure (including Nokia tower deployments)
  • Leverage Linux systems for server management, log analysis, and performance monitoring
  • Participate in on-call rotations, responding to incidents and ensuring overall system reliability and uptime

  • 5+ years of experience in wireless/telecom engineering, specifically within 5G core and/or RAN environments
  • Strong understanding of 5G architecture and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or OpenShift
  • Proven experience supporting deployments, upgrades, and release management in production environments
  • Solid Linux experience (server access, log analysis, system performance validation)
  • Experience with Python for automation, scripting, and data/log handling
  • Background working in fast-paced, production-focused environments with on-call responsibilities and real-time troubleshooting
