Systems Engineer V – Sensor Calibration & Data Systems (HW/SW Integration)

Location: Redmond, WA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 6 Months (High potential for extension or conversion)

Pay Rate: $95–$101/hr (W2)


Our client is looking for a Systems Engineer V with strong calibration and system-level expertise to support cutting-edge hardware and sensor technologies. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of hardware and software, driving calibration processes that directly impact product quality and performance at scale. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments involving optics, sensors, and integrated systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop software tools for calibration data collection, processing, and analysis (C++/Python)
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot data collection systems (HW/SW, OS, firmware)
  • Define and execute calibration procedures for camera and display systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Firmware, CV) for hardware bring-up and validation
  • Design and run experiments to validate product quality and diagnose integration issues
  • Perform system-level troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, optical, and software domains
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to scale calibration processes in production environments
  • Conduct failure analysis and improve calibration system design


Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong software development experience using C++ and/or Python
  • Proven experience in hardware/software integration within research or product development environments
  • Expertise in system-level debugging and troubleshooting across multiple domains (HW/SW/firmware/optics)


Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with robotic systems or automation
  • Knowledge of optics (imaging, illumination, radiometry/photometry, geometric optics, polarization)
  • Background in statistical analysis and data modeling
  • Hands-on experience in hardware engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Optical)
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese (for collaboration with global manufacturing teams)
