About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Deployment Engineer to join our Operational Technology (OT) Deployment team. In this role, you will serve as the critical bridge between digital infrastructure and physical operations, ensuring the secure deployment and configuration of edge computing systems, servers, and industrial networks.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in Linux system administration, a passion for automation, and experience working in environments where system uptime and safety are mission-critical.
Key Responsibilities
- OT Infrastructure Deployment:
- Lead installation, configuration, and commissioning of Linux-based edge devices, servers, and virtualized environments (Ubuntu, VMware, Proxmox) at operational sites.
- Deployment Automation:
- Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts (Ansible, Bash, Python) to streamline deployments and reduce manual errors.
- Database & Systems Management:
- Deploy and manage time-series and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB) for high-frequency operational data.
- Hardware Lifecycle Management:
- Monitor system health, manage hardware lifecycle, and ensure availability of critical resources (CPU, RAM, storage).
- Hardware Commissioning & Networking:
- Configure and integrate ruggedized edge hardware and industrial networking equipment using protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, OPC UA, and MQTT.
- Site Reliability & Support:
- Act as an escalation point for complex deployment issues and ensure systems meet strict availability and safety standards before handoff to operations.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with industry best practices, tools, and emerging technologies through ongoing training and development.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 3+ years in Systems Engineering, IT/OT integration, or infrastructure deployment in industrial, manufacturing, or critical environments.
- Operating Systems:
- Advanced Linux system administration experience, including system hardening and enterprise deployments.
- Automation:
- Hands-on experience with Ansible and scripting languages (Bash, Python, or Ruby) for automated provisioning.
- Networking & Security:
- Strong understanding of industrial networking, firewalls, VLANs, and OT cybersecurity principles.
- OT Protocols:
- Experience with industrial communication protocols and secure data routing to IT systems.
- Tools & Methodologies:
- Experience with Agile environments, JIRA, and version control (Git).
- Core Competencies:Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Experience in energy, renewable energy, or utilities
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and edge orchestration
- Experience with industrial data historians or operational databases
