About Uplifters Foundation

Uplifters Foundation is a California 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation rebuilding Pacific Palisades after the January 2025 wildfires. Through a tax-exempt bond-financed program, we will acquire approximately 60 parcels and deliver newly built, cost-controlled single-family homes back to displaced residents of the community. This is one of the most consequential housing recovery efforts in California in a generation.

The Role

The SVP, Construction is the Foundation's senior construction executive and the primary point of accountability for delivery of the homebuilding program. This is an oversight and governance role, not a day-to-day construction management role. Six Peak Capital serves as our Owner's Representative and manages five general contractors operating under guaranteed maximum price (GMP) contracts. The SVP ensures that the program is delivered on budget, on schedule, safely, and consistent with the Foundation's mission and the bond covenants that govern the use of funds.

Core Responsibilities
  • Own the relationship with the Owner's Representative and hold them accountable for cost, schedule, quality, and safety across the 60-home portfolio
  • Review and approve all change orders consistent with Foundation thresholds (individual and aggregate)
  • Review and approve project budgets and material budget revisions
  • Participate in site acquisition decisions, including reviewing acquisition memos for constructability, cost feasibility, and program fit
  • Provide safety oversight across all active construction sites
  • Partner closely with the Controller on budget-to-actual reporting and cost discipline
  • Represent the construction function to the Board, bond trustee, and Foundation leadership
  • Escalate execution risk early and recommend mitigations
What We're Looking For
  • 20+ years of senior construction leadership experience, ideally with a production or mid-size homebuilder, a major developer, or as a senior owner's representative
  • Demonstrated success managing portfolios of single-family residential construction, ideally including GMP contract structures
  • Deep familiarity with Los Angeles permitting, entitlements, and the local subcontractor base
  • Track record of holding third-party builders and consultants accountable through clear governance, not micromanagement
  • Strong financial literacy — comfortable reading budgets, schedules of values, draw packages, and variance reports
  • Calm judgment, high integrity, and a bias toward documented decisions
Why This Role Is Different

This is a defined-term mission role with a clean start and a clean finish. It is uniquely well-suited for an accomplished construction executive who wants their next chapter to count — perhaps someone who has retired or is considering retirement from a long career in homebuilding or development and wants to apply that experience to a recovery effort of real community significance. You will not be managing a P&L for a public company or chasing the next deal. You will be helping families come home.
