Job Title: Surgical Technician (OR Tech / CST)

Employment Type: Full‑Time, Direct Hire

Shift: 10‑Hour Day Shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Contract Length: Permanent


Position Summary

The Surgical Technician is a key member of the surgical team who has completed the required academic and clinical training to assist with surgical procedures. This role functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and supports surgeons by ensuring the operating room is prepared, sterile supplies are available, and surgical procedures run efficiently. Inventory management and the distribution or delivery of medications may be required as part of this role.


Schedule & Call Requirements

  • Primary Schedule: Monday – Friday
  • 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (10‑hour shifts)
  • Weekends: Rotating
  • On‑Call: Rotating night and weekend call required


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons and the surgical team during operative procedures
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating environment
  • Ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functional
  • Support medication inventory, distribution, and delivery as required
  • Anticipate surgical team needs throughout procedures
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and sterile technique standards
  • Collaborate closely with RNs, surgeons, and perioperative staff


Required & Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of a certified surgical technology program through:
  • Community college
  • Vocational school
  • Military program
  • Hospital‑based training program
  • Candidates with documented on‑the‑job Operating Room Technician experience may be considered
  • Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) – Preferred
  • Experience: Operating Room experience required
  • Continuing Education: Six (6) contact hours or three (3) college credits annually related to the nursing or surgical field is encouraged.


*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
