We are seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and complies patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Under the direction of a non-operative spine Physician, you will conduct patient assessments, order, or directly provide treatments, and provide patient education and support.
  • Provides post-op follow-ups as needed including hospital rounding.
  • There will be opportunities for First (1st) assist in the OR and for OR First (1st) assist on-call.
  • 1-2 weekends per quarter on-call coverage required.
  • Preferred candidate shouldpossess excellent suturing and wound closure skills.
  • Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment plan.
  • Provide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation.
  • Ensure timely access of patient appointments.

WILL WORK AT MULTIPLE SITES INCLUDING:Santa Monica, St. Johns, Marina Del Rey, and Surgery Center of the Pacific (SCOP)

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies

License/Certification requirements:

  • National Certification as a Physician Assistant
  • BLS and ACLS Certification required
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required

Experience:

  • Preferred experience of minimum one (1) yearPhysician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopaedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties.
