About Our Hospital

At VCA Aurora Animal Hospital, you’ll be part of anemergency, specialty, and primary care hospital delivering advanced, team-based medicine.

Our Surgery service is supported by three board-certified surgeons, a surgical resident, and a dedicated anesthesiologist, allowing for a wide range of complex and advanced procedures.

As a teaching-focused hospital, we prioritize mentorship, collaboration, and high standards of care—creating an environment where technicians can continue to grow and refine their skills.

The Role

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a critical role in supporting advanced surgical procedures from preparation through recovery. You’ll work closely with our surgeons and anesthesia team to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.

Schedule:Full-time opportunity, 4 x 10-hour weekday shifts. Uponcompletetraining with the Surgery Service (commonly three to five months), associates will train to perform on-call surgery duties. Bonuses apply!

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-op assessments and catheter placement
  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia for a variety of surgical procedures
  • Assist surgeons during procedures, maintaining sterile technique
  • Monitor vital signs and adjust anesthesia under doctor direction
  • Provide post-operative care and pain management support
  • Maintain surgical equipment and ensure proper sterilization

What We’re Looking For
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE
  • Experience in surgery and anesthesia
  • Strong attention to detail and patient monitoring skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Passion for high-quality, patient-centered care
