Life in New Hampshire | BAE Systems As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring our suppliers deliver high-quality products and services that meet our stringent requirements. You will leverage your analytical skills, technical expertise, and collaborative spirit to drive continuous improvement throughout our supply base and contribute to the success of our programs. Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and assess supplier performance, identify areas for improvement, develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans through implementation and closure, ensuring timely and effective resolution of quality issues.
- Conduct supplier audits, champion Structured Problem-Solving efforts with Suppliers, perform Production Process Verifications (PPV’s), and participate in PPAP review processes.
- Analyze supplier defect/performance data and utilize analytical tools to identify trends and drive preventative measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams – including Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Quality – to proactively mitigate risks and ensure supplier compliance.
- Review and interpret technical documentation such as drawings, specifications, and requirements.
Explore Your Path as a Supplier Quality Engineer at BAE Systems: We offer two primary types of Supplier Quality Engineer roles, each with a unique focus and opportunity to contribute.
1. Business Area Supplier Quality Engineer (Program-Focused):- What you'll do: These roles are embedded within specific programs, working closely with program teams to ensure supplier quality directly supports program milestones and deliverables. You’ll be heavily involved in evaluating non-conforming product, assessing corrective actions, and driving resolution of issues impacting program execution. Expect a strong focus on problem solving and direct support of production.
- Ideal candidate: Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys direct collaboration with engineering and program teams, and has a passion for driving immediate results.
- Travel and Work Agreement: Minimum of hybrid-onsite with approximately 10-25% travel, including local and overnight trips.
2. Category Supplier Quality Engineer (Supplier-Focused):- What you'll do: These roles concentrate on building strong relationships with suppliers across a specific commodity or category, with a focus on long-term supplier development, capability assessments, problem-solving, and proactive risk mitigation. In this role you will implement quality engineering tools and processes to ensure suppliers achieve robust manufacturing and acceptance plans to drive results. Expertise in specific manufacturing technologies/processes (e.g., PCB/PWB, microelectronics, machining, welding/brazing, optics) is essential. In these roles each Supplier Quality Engineer is aligned with suppliers/commodities based on their technology/process expertise.
- Ideal candidate: A Quality Professional with a strong technical background in a specific commodity area (see list of examples below), result-driven, with a passion for supplier development, and a strategic mindset.
- Travel and Work Agreement: Remote work with approximately 50% travel, including both local and overnight trips.
Job Levels and Salary:We are looking to hire 15+ SQEs across varying levels. Typical salary range and minimum education/experience are as follows:
- SQE II ($95,000 - $105,000)
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience or 6+ years of experience in lieu of degree
- Senior SQE ($115,000 - $125,000)
- Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of experience or 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree
- Principal SQE ($140,000 - $150,000)
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of experience or 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree
- Senior Principal SQE ($155,000 - $165,000)
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience or 12+ years of experience in lieu of degree

Required Education, Experience, & Skills Required Skills and Education- Depending on the job level (as listed in the job description) a Bachelor’s Degree with 2-12+ years of experience or 6-12+ years of experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Preferred Skills and Education- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical field
- Direct knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain logistics from raw material to finished goods
- Working knowledge of the principles and the purpose of a Quality Management System (e.g. AS9100), AS9102 First Article Requirements, AS9145 APQP/PPAP
- Experience in Product Production Line Validation, test, equipment, instrumentation qualifications, and Measurement System Analyses
- Familiarity with APQP and PPAP and process tools such as PFMEA and Control Plan
- Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma, a Green or Black Belt certification from a recognized organization
- Strong commodity-specific technical knowledge related to suppliers being supported, this may include some of the following dependent upon your area of expertise:
- Areas of Expertise for Category SQ Roles:
Electronics:- Direct experience in Electronics Commodities such as CCA/PCBA, Electronic and Electrical assemblies, RF and MW Devices, Semiconductor, and Passives.
- Working knowledge of PCBA/CCA inspection/test, equipment and instrumentation, familiarity with IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 or certification favored.
- Current or Past Certification to IPC-A-600 and Working knowledge of IPC-6012, IPC-6013, IPC-6018, subordinate IPC standards/guidelines.
- Working knowledge of Defense Microelectronics standards MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF-38534
Mechanical / Interconnects- Knowledge of materials, thermal processes; welding, brazing, bonding, finishes, paint, coatings, nondestructive testing, fabrication, composites and other processes common in the Aerospace and Defense Industries.
- Working knowledge of subtractive and additive manufacturing processes such as Machining, EDM, Molding, Casting, 3d Printing, Composites, Injection Molding, and associated GD&T.
- Current or recent certification in IPC-A-620
- Knowledge of connectors, cable assemblies and cable harnessing, as well as interconnect processes and methods such as jacketing, crimping, thermal adhesion, connector termination, soldering, stamping and various plating methods
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $95000 - $164914

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
