MajorDuties

  • You will serve as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist and will be responsible for providing technical authority in the areas of staffing, classification, compensation, and processing of personnel actions with specific responsibility for supervision and day-to-day operations of the Civilian Personnel Management Division - Civilian Personnel Service Branch. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Provides expert staffing, classification, compensation, and personnel action guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely HR services across the regional service center. Direct and standardize administrative and operational procedures for center staff to ensure consistent application of policies, coordinated workflow execution, and effective resolution of daily operational issues. Provides expert classification guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely HR services across the regional service center. Evaluates staff performance, casework outputs, and service delivery metrics to assess quality, regulatory compliance, and workload efficiency and to implement corrective actions that improve organizational effectiveness. Plans, assigns, and monitors workload distribution for HR specialists and assistants to ensure timely processing of personnel actions and achievement of production goals within established service level timelines. Coordinates and compiles HR data and official responses for Congressional inquiries, FOIA requests, Commandant correspondence, and leadership information requests while promoting equal employment opportunity practices to ensure transparency, regulatory adherence, and equitable personnel management.
