A Little More About What You Will be Doing

The Supervisor of MN Laboratory is responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory team, including managing laboratory staff and ensuring compliance with laboratory regulations and standards.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Oversee lab operations, including lab workflow, scheduling of staff, and laboratory testing for all areas of the laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunoassay, and urinalysis.
  • Review quality control and quality assurance measures to ensure quality of laboratory testing, accuracy of test results, and compliance with laboratory policies.
  • Supervise laboratory personnel, including clinical laboratory scientists (CLS) and laboratory assistant (MLA CPT1) staff.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents. Coordinate maintenance and calibration of instruments and equipment.
  • Evaluate technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications, including ensuring appropriate field service technicians arrive promptly to remedy instrument malfunctions.
  • Evaluate the competency of all testing personnel and assure that the staff maintains competency required to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently.
  • Assist with evaluation and training of new personnel and with the evaluation and implementation of new procedures.
  • Maintain competency and training in all areas of the laboratory to provide bench coverage as needed.
  • Follows established policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines. Ensure maintenance of safety protocols and compliance with emergency procedures and drills for safety of patients and staff.
Qualifications Education
  • Associates Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biological Science, Chemistry, or other related Science field required.
  • Bachelors' Degree preferred
Experience
  • 5 years of related laboratory experience required
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required
