It is the responsibility of the Housekeeping Supervisor to assist in the activities of the Housekeeping Department to organize, coordinate and direct housekeeping services in providing a clean and safe environment.

  1. Job Function :
    1. v Maintains and supports the mission and philosophy of St. Catherine's Village. v Follows Village and departmental policies and procedures. v Effectively works as a member of the housekeeping team through open communication with all staff members, residents, volunteers and families. v Respects residents' rights and individual dignity. v Protects resident's belongings. v Understands housekeeping's extremely important role in infection control. v Understands role in the Village fire, safety and disaster programs. v Maintains pleasant, professional conduct with residents, family members and visitors. v Performs general cleaning as assigned � Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of assigned areas. � Conducts regular inspections of all areas. � Clean corridors, corridor furniture and entryways. � Spot cleans as necessary any area requiring attention. v Follows the daily schedule as written, but maintains the necessary flexibility to adapt to program and resident needs. v Maintains acceptable practices with regard to safety (with equipment, chemicals and biohazard material), both for self and others. v Informs the Director of Housekeeping of problems that may affect housekeeping operations. v Keeps equipment and work areas clean and orderly. v Works as part of a team. Is available to assist others if needed. v Observes required dress code and maintains appropriate conduct and appearance. v Observes and reports to Supervisor any sign of changes or problems noted in resident behavior as housekeeping rounds are made. v Consults with supervisor as needed. v Protects resident's possessions. v Performs other duties as assigned.
    2. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day. v Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, reach and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time. v Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position. v Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
