Roofing Superintendent – Commercial Projects - San Diego, CA
Job Description
- The Roofing Superintendent leads and manages commercial roofing crews in the field, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to high production and quality standards. This role drives daily productivity, coordinates with other trades and general contractors, and maintains a strong safety culture on active commercial job sites. It is an urgent opening that supports field operations and helps meet demanding project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a commercial roofing crew of up to 15 employees, including foremen, mechanics, and laborers.
- Conduct daily safety huddles and pre-task planning meetings to review work activities and potential hazards.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and ensure all safety plans and procedures are followed in the field.
- Drive daily and weekly production goals while maintaining quality workmanship and safety standards.
- Enforce all safety standards and company safety policies on active job sites.
- Coordinate work activities with other trades and general contractors to keep projects running smoothly.
- Communicate effectively with project management and field leadership regarding progress, issues, and resource needs.
- Monitor job progress closely and take action to help keep projects on schedule and within scope.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and strong field leadership within the crew.
- Demonstrate strong on-site leadership and problem-solving skills to address field challenges quickly and effectively.
- Consistently meet production and schedule expectations while maintaining a safe jobsite with minimal incidents.
- Effectively communicate expectations to crews and leadership through verbal updates, text messages, and email.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial roofing.
- Proven experience supervising and leading roofing crews in the field.
- Strong knowledge of jobsite safety and safety management practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal conversations, text messages, and email.
- Experience working alongside other trades and general contractors on commercial projects.
- Ability to drive production while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Hands-on experience with TPO commercial roofing systems.
- Hands-on experience with PVC commercial roofing systems.
- Construction and roofing expertise with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills managing field personnel.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with crews and project stakeholders.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety procedures and policies.
- Superintendent-level experience overseeing field operations.
- Proficiency with MS Office for basic reporting and communication.
- Experience with subcontractor management on commercial projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Additional experience with a broad range of roofing systems beyond TPO and PVC.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple trades on complex commercial job sites.
- Strong organizational skills to manage timecards, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to adapt to changing project demands and schedules in a fast-paced field environment.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.
