Job Title: Construction Superintendent – Steel Projects
Location: Miami, FL (Onsite)

Position Overview
The Construction Superintendent – Steel Projects is responsible for overseeing the on-site execution of structural and miscellaneous steel construction. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. The Superintendent coordinates field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors while ensuring compliance with engineering plans, building codes, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Site Management
- Oversee daily field operations related to steel erection, fabrication coordination, and installation.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved shop drawings, engineering plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate steel deliveries, crane operations, rigging activities, and staging areas.
- Monitor project progress and adjust manpower and sequencing as required.
Crew Supervision
- Supervise and lead ironworkers, welders, installers, and subcontractors.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure adherence to installation procedures and productivity goals.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance oversight to field teams.
Safety Compliance
- Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies on-site.
- Conduct daily safety meetings (toolbox talks) and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Monitor crane operations, rigging practices, and fall protection systems.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, engineers, and inspectors.
- Maintain project schedules and ensure timely completion of milestones.
- Resolve trade conflicts and maintain workflow efficiency.
Quality Control
- Verify field measurements prior to fabrication when required.
- Inspect installed steel components for alignment, welding, bolting, and connections.
- Ensure compliance with AISC standards and project specifications.
- Manage punch list items and ensure timely completion of corrective work.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily reports, site logs, and progress updates.
- Track manpower, materials, and equipment usage.
- Report project status, delays, and issues to the Project Manager.
Material & Equipment Management
- Coordinate delivery, handling, and storage of steel materials and hardware.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of cranes, lifts, welding machines, and related equipment.
- Manage inventory of steel components such as bolts, plates, and anchors.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in steel construction, steel erection, or structural steel projects.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with AISC and AWS standards.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of welding, bolting procedures, rigging, and crane operations.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

Certifications (Preferred)

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights and around heavy equipment.
- Ability to walk, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
