The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission, Department of Parks & Recreation, Prince George’s County is currently seeking enthusiastic applicants who enjoy working with preschoolers, school-age children, teens and young adults to be Summer Program Counselorsin inclusive camp settings (including campers with and without disabilities).
Summer recreation jobs offer invaluable skill-building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities. Recreation work experiences allow you to learn and develop management and personnel skills which can enhance your job marketability. M-NCPPC will offer a large variety of summer programs which include in-person specialty camps, in-person playtime programs, and in-person therapeutic recreation programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the day-to-day supervision of summer program participants ranging ages 6-17. Counselors will aid with planning an inclusive comprehensive program schedule for the summer day program. They will assist with planning and leading program activities and special events. Staff is responsible for establishing and maintaining good rapport with participants, parents and other staff.
Staff is responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of participants. They will be responsible for enforcing all M-NCPPC rules and regulations and compliance of Youth Camp Safety Standards.
Under immediate supervision, they will perform program support duties of a relatively routine and repetitive nature. Staff may assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the site, including picking up trash, sweeping the floor, etc. Staff will assist with trip supervision in accordance with Youth Camp Safety Standards. They will participate in inventory control and distribute equipment and supplies to participants.
