Summer Camp Counselor

The Central Coast Aquarium is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering ocean stewardship through education, community engagement, and actionable initiatives. Located in the picturesque town of Avila Beach, CA, the aquarium provides hands-on learning experiences and promotes marine conservation. It is committed to inspiring individuals of all ages to develop a deep connection with the ocean and its ecosystems. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Avila Beach, CA. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will lead and engage with children in educational and recreational activities, promoting ocean stewardship through hands-on lessons and workshops. Responsibilities include planning and supervising daily camp activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and fostering an inclusive and positive environment. Counselors will also assist in lifeguarding duties during aquatic activities and contribute to the overall success of the camp experience.

• Experience in camp settings and a passion for working with children
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse age groups
• Lifeguarding skills or certifications, and a demonstrated ability to ensure safety in aquatic environments
• Background in education or facilitation of learning, particularly in marine science or related subjects
• Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to foster an engaging and supportive environment
• First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
• Ability to collaborate with team members
