Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist in meeting the programmatic requirements under DCFS, and Illinois State Board of Education mandates. This position is responsible for the safety and enjoyment of enrollees participating in S.E.F.E. programs. This position will be responsible for performing day-to-day assistance of Tutor I to provide educational enrichment support services to all enrollees.
ORGANIZING AND COORDINATING:
Screening/Intake
- Assist Tutor I. in some recruitment processes as needed
Interfacing
- Ability to communicate and work with children with varying ages and skills; and provide necessary guidance, support, and supervision to participants at all times.
- Ability to observe participant behavior and participation, assess appropriateness of such, and
- Set a good example for campers including cleanliness, punctuality, sportsmanship etc…
- Maintain positive public relations with participants’ parents
- Facilitate interaction between participants and participants as well as participant and staff
Linkage

Monitoring
- Conduct building and room checks for safety and program compliance per supervisor directives.
- Assist in the pick up and delivery of participants
- Actively participate in daily camp routines
- Reinforce camp safety regulations
- Maintain student/ child ratios at all times
Direct Service
- Prepare children for all daily activities and trips ( i.e. restrooms, backpacks, clothing)
- Develop camp activities with campers and other staff as appropriate
- Guide campers to full participation in ALL aspects of camp
- Assist food program as needed
- Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be asked of you as required.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
Documentation/Record Keeping
- Collect daily attendance for program compliance
- Documentation of any Unusual Incident of any participants on a UIR Form
Agency Activities/Trainings/Other
- Attend and participate in all initial and on going training
- Actively participate in orientation and staff training, assigned staff meetings
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
High School Diploma, High School Equivalent
Experience
One year or less in a service related area
Credential:
N/A
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate and work with children with varying ages and skills; and provide necessary guidance, support, and supervision to participants at all times.
- First aid and CPR certified
- Ability to observe participant behavior and participation, assess appropriateness of such, and enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other risks related to an activity.
- Physical endurance to engage children and adolescents in respective activities
- Physical strength and ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring medical intervention, and de-escalation.
- Cognitive ability to provide leadership to achieve participant goals and objectives.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Able to work collaboratively with teams
- Demonstrated reliability regarding attendance and work performance
- Ability to be creative, flexible and adaptive in ALL activities and responsibilities
- Must be a team player
- Must want to help address the needs of the community
- Duties as assigned may result in working weekends and/or holidays
