Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician
Field-Based | Travel Throughout the Southeast (and Beyond)
We are seeking an experienced Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician to join a growing Utility Services team that plays a critical role in reducing risk and improving outcomes for transportation, site development, and infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for a field-driven professional who takes pride in accuracy, safety, and technical excellence.
As a SUE Technician, you will work as part of a tight-knit field team responsible for locating, designating, and documenting underground utilities to support roadway, building, and infrastructure design. Your work will directly contribute to GIS-grade utility mapping, helping municipalities, agencies, and private clients avoid costly conflicts and construction delays.
All tools, equipment, and a company vehicle are provided. While the role is based in the Southeast, there are opportunities to support projects nationwide, including California, Oregon, Texas, Colorado, and Florida. The Utility Services Department is committed to developing talent internally, with training and advancement opportunities for the right candidates.
What You’ll DoThis is a field-intensive role performed outdoors in a wide range of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, rain, dust, and noise. Work occurs on active construction and project sites and requires a high level of physical capability and situational awareness.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
