We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher Aide to support students with disabilities in a structured, inclusive, and nurturing school environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about disability services, value individualized support, and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Position Overview
The Teacher Aide works closely with educators and support staff to provide academic, behavioral, and emotional support to students. This role helps foster a safe, respectful, and predictable environment where students can develop communication skills, independence, confidence, and academic growth at their own pace.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional & Individualized Learning Support
- Assist students during whole‑group instruction, small groups, and 1:1 support
- Adapt instructional materials and activities to align with individual learning plans
- Reinforce classroom goals through modeling, prompting, repetition, and routine
- Support students with attention, transitions, and task completion
Behavioral & Emotional Support
- Implement positive behavior supports and individualized strategies
- Use visual schedules, social stories, and emotional regulation tools
- Assist students in developing self‑regulation, communication, and coping skills
- Maintain a calm, supportive presence during emotionally challenging moments
Collaboration & Team Engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Communicate student observations, progress, and concerns professionally
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development
Documentation & Classroom Assistance
- Maintain daily notes related to student participation, behavior, and achievements
- Support classroom organization, material preparation, attendance, and routines
- Assist with light administrative and program support tasks as needed
Who We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities in:
- Special education
- Behavioral or therapeutic settings
- Community or human services
- Childcare, residential, or support programs
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Ability to remain calm, consistent, and supportive in structured environments
- High school diploma or equivalent
