Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Technician III to support aerospace structural assembly and modification tasks. This role involves working with major assemblies and minor part-fitting operations, ensuring precision and quality in alignment, measurement, and installation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in aerospace structural work, strong technical interpretation skills, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble major structures and perform minor part-fitting operations (filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, reaming).
- Align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures.
- Measure parts using micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
- Modify incomplete or complete assemblies and incorporate structural changes.
- Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control or other procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety-sensitive protocols and aviation standards.
- Operate or supervise heavy or dangerous equipment and machinery.
- Inspect structures, equipment, or vehicles for safety and performance.
- Perform duties in outdoor environments and occasionally around hazardous materials.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and stair climbing.
- Repetitive hand, arm, and finger motions; strong dexterity required.
- Visual acuity for close, distance, depth perception, and color differentiation.
- Hearing ability to discern tones and volumes.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to outdoor elements and loud noises.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or hazardous chemicals.
Required Skills
- Must own tools in good working condition.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
- Experience with structural assembly and minor part fitting techniques.
- Skilled in installing fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
- Experience in airframe corrosion removal and refinishing.
Preferred Skills
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Background in Aerospace & Defense, DoD, NASA, or U.S. Military.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance (if required).
Education & Experience
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace structural work.
- A higher-level degree may substitute for experience.
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
