Strategic Account Manager | FERO 📍 Houston | Full-Time | Field-Based
About FERO:
FERO is a technology-driven, two-sided marketplace built for the construction hauling and last-mile logistics industry. We connect shippers — general contractors, subcontractors, excavators, and site developers — with qualified, vetted haulers who move materials like dirt, aggregate, concrete, and debris on a per-load or ongoing basis.
Construction hauling has historically been managed through phone calls, informal networks, and broker relationships. FERO digitizes and streamlines this process — giving shippers real-time access to available haulers and giving haulers steady, transparent work — all through a single platform.
We're an early-stage, high-growth company with active operations across Southern California, Arizona, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, and Louisiana, and expanding into Georgia. Our model is built around market density: the more shippers and haulers active in a geography, the more powerful the platform becomes for everyone.
The Role:
This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for seasoned field sales professionals who know the construction industry, have existing relationships, and are ready to own a market — not learn how to sell.
The Strategic Account Manager is FERO's primary point of contact with the demand side of the marketplace — the contractors and shippers who place loads through the platform. You own outreach, activation, and retention within the Dallas-Fort Worth market. You'll be on job sites, at rental yards, in offices, and embedded in the construction community — doing the work that builds real market density.
If you're competitive, hungry, and want your income tied directly to your output — keep reading.
What You'll Own
🔹 Prospecting — Identify and target GCs, subcontractors, rental companies, and site developers in DFW. Execute structured outreach across phone, email, LinkedIn, and in-person visits.
🔹 Activation — Convert prospects into active FERO customers. Coach shippers through account creation and their first load placement. Own your activation rate.
🔹 Retention & Growth — Monitor account health at 30, 60, and 90 days. Drive repeat usage and expand load volume within your book of business. Own your retention rate.
🔹 Market Intelligence — Be the eyes and ears on the ground. Report on competitive dynamics, customer needs, and market opportunities back to leadership.
How We Measure Success
Four metrics matter most:
✅ Download/Sign-Up — Coaching shippers through account creation and onboarding.
✅ Activation Rate — The percentage of outreach contacts who place their first load.
✅ Repeat & Retention Rate — The percentage of activated accounts returning at 30, 60, and 90 days.
✅ CRM Utilization & Accuracy — Logging daily activity and maintaining accurate, up-to-date account notes.
What We're Looking For:
This role is for closers and relationship builders — not order takers.
✔ 3+ years of outside field sales experience — construction, equipment rental, logistics, or a related industry required
✔ Construction equipment rental experience is required — you need to understand the industry, speak the language, and have relationships with the people we're selling to
✔ Reliable, independent transportation is required — you will be in the field every day; this is non-negotiable
✔ Proven track record of building and growing a book of business, not just hitting a quota and coasting ✔ Competitive, self-motivated, and driven by results — you don't need to be managed, you need to be unleashed
✔ Equally comfortable on a dirt job site and in an owner's office
✔ Existing network in construction, excavation, or hauling in DFW is a significant advantage
If you're looking for a structured corporate environment with hand-holding and scripted playbooks — this isn't the right fit. If you want ownership, upside, and the chance to build something real — let's talk.
Compensation:
💰 Competitive base salary + commission capped at $220K
🚗 Vehicle stipend
🎯 Direct line to senior leadership — your performance shapes the company
Why FERO?
FERO is solving a real problem in an industry that has been underserved by technology. As a SAM, you're not a number in a large sales org — you're a market builder. The relationships you develop and the density you create in your territory have a direct, visible impact on the company.
The people who thrive here are operators. They move fast, take ownership, and want their effort to show up in their paycheck.
