Staff ML Product Engineer
Exciting opportunity to join a well-funded and dynamic start-up as a Staff ML Product Engineer. This is a hands-on IC role for someone who is ML-first but thinks like a product engineer, who can build and ship LLM-driven features while staying grounded in how real customers use them.
Role Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Owning delivery of ML-powered features from concept through production
- Ensuring models, retrieval systems, and agent workflows function correctly together across the full system
- Leading implementation of ML-driven features, coordinating with ML engineers and the rest of the team to get features shipped
- Building and maintaining evaluation systems, including datasets, scoring approaches, and repeatable testing to detect regressions.
- Designing and iterating on prompts and agent instructions to ensure correct and predictable system behavior
- Modifying and work with pipelines, retrieval systems, and model behavior when required.
Person Specification
Essential skills will include:
- Strong Python and production ML experience, ideally with LLMs, RAG, or agent-based systems
- Building evaluation systems and iterate on them over time
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, start-up, high-ownership environment where the scope of problems is still being defined
- Strong proficiency in Python, with a track record of building well-structured and maintainable systems.
- Experience delivering complex features in production environments, involving ML or AI systems.
- Experience working with LLMs, RAG systems, or agent-based workflows.
