Staff Engineer – Site Design (Civil Engineering)

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Staff Engineer to join our Site Design department in Milwaukee, WI. This position is ideal for an early‑career civil engineer looking to gain hands‑on experience in site design, grading, and utility design while working closely with and learning from a Professional Engineer (PE).

The Staff Engineer will support land development and site design projects using Civil 3D, contributing to high‑quality engineering solutions from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and design of civil engineering site development projects
  • Perform site grading and utility design using Civil 3D
  • Collaborate with the Site Design team on project plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Conduct site visits and field inspections to gather data and evaluate project conditions
  • Review work for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Support the Professional Engineer with engineering tasks and project coordination
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, clients, and project stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 1–4 years of experience in site design and land development (internship experience counts)
  • Working knowledge of grading and utility design principles
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal engineering standards
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional engineering setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D
  • Prior internship or consulting experience in civil/site engineering
  • Exposure to land development projects such as commercial, residential, or municipal work

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $28.85/hr.
