Staff Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in processing the company's financial data by ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and contributing to accurate financial health. This position involves managing various aspects of reconciliations and supporting the month-end close process, as well as processing company business transactions like Accounts Payable. The Staff Accountant works collaboratively across departments, including sales, customer service, and management, to maintain internal controls and identify opportunities for process efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • General Ledger: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations; promptly investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable: Process and record vendor invoices accurately, ensure timely payments, and maintain strong relationships with external suppliers.
  • Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries and accruals.
  • Audit Support: Prepare necessary documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively identify and implement ideas to enhance accounting workflows and reporting efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams such as Sales, Operations, and AR/AP to resolve accounting issues and provide clear visibility into financial data.
  • Other duties: As assigned by manager.


Qualifications

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of accounting principles, credit management, and best practices.
  • Systems & Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially advanced Excel for reporting and analysis) and Sage Accounting Software (Sage ERP experience strongly preferred).
  • Attention to Detail: A results-oriented mindset with a focus on problem-solving and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Adaptability: Ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment with competing deadlines.


Education & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in corporate accounting, accounts payable, or a similar financial operations role.
