Job Summary:

The Senior Specialist of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) reports to the Regional Group Manager of EHS and plays a key role in supporting and executing the organization’s EHS strategy. This position helps lead and plan all aspects of Environmental, Health and Safety within the assigned function. In this role, the Senior Specialist of EHS partners closely with EHS leadership, resort operations, and corporate teams to develop, implement, and sustain a strong safety culture that drives world-class safety performance.

This position also works cross-functionally to support programs, ensure initiatives are properly reviewed, and delivered on schedule. The Senior Specialist of EHS also collaborates with external partners, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies in support of resort operations and the company’s core value: Be Safe.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $65,000 - $70,000

Job Responsibilities:

  • Influence, support, and drive the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) strategy to achieve world-class EHS performance within the travel and leisure industry. Responsible for the strategy management of:
  • Safety training compliance and implementation
  • Ensuring compliance with resort and enterprise EHS programs
  • Advising and coaching front line, department, and resorts leaders on EHS initiatives
  • Advise, notify, and support the EHS Regional Group Manager of critical incidents and actions, including any environmental-related matters.
  • As designated by Environmental Compliance and EHS leadership, partner with Environmental Compliance for day-to-day management and support to ensure operational excellence for environmental programs and on-site response.
  • Serve as the local administrator within the Company’s EHS incident management system.
  • Support the company’s injured worker initiatives and return-to-work programs.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with local medical providers to enhance return-to- work efforts and optimize workers’ compensation performance across operations.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and self-assessments as required in collaboration with the Operational Safety Compliance team.
  • Be an unbiased leader and voice for resort leadership to ensure understanding of the risks and opportunities to drive, improve, and then maintain superior safety performance.
  • Engage, as required, with local, state, and federal officials as necessary to support EHS compliance and best practices.
  • Identify and execute projects in coordination with Regional Group Manager.
  • Support all operations including but not limited to: Mountain Division, Security, Environmental, Sustainability, Hospitality, and Retail.
  • Potential for travel to and support of non-assigned resorts within the region.
  • Other duties or tasks, as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, or equivalent
  • Supervisory Experience including safety committees, teams, or equivalent.
  • Experience with safety management software and systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with return-to-work programs.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field.
  • Preferred Skills or Competencies: Experience analyzing and advising on safety data analytics. Familiarity with data collection platforms: Tableau, Benchmark Gensuite, SmartSheets, etc.
  • Experience leading and implementing change management across a matrix of stakeholders.
  • Professional safety accreditations, including ASP, GSP, CSP, CTSC, or other recognized credentials.
  • Experience analyzing and advising on safety data trends and metrics.
  • Operational experience in ski area operations, outdoor recreation, or travel and leisure industry

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $65,000 - $70,000. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
