Job Title: Sr Project Manager – Construction (MEP Focus)

Job Description

The Sr Project Manager oversees complex commercial construction projects with a strong focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. This role leads projects from planning through completion, ensuring high-quality delivery, adherence to budget and schedule, and close coordination among construction, engineering, and program management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage commercial construction projects with a primary focus on MEP systems from initiation through closeout.
  • Coordinate and oversee all phases of construction management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate MEP requirements into overall project plans and design solutions.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders, contractors, and other project partners to ensure alignment on scope, quality, and milestones.
  • Review project documentation, drawings, and specifications to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
  • Drive program management activities across multiple projects or workstreams, ensuring consistent standards, processes, and reporting.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout all phases of construction.
  • Prepare and deliver regular project status updates and reports to leadership and key stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in project management within commercial construction environments.
  • Strong in construction management with direct oversight of field and office activities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing projects with a significant MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) focus.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering teams and interpret technical construction and MEP documentation.
  • Solid understanding of program management principles and the ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills to meet deadlines and project milestones.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to guide project teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial construction projects involving complex MEP systems.
  • education in construction, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with best practices in construction project controls, reporting, and risk management.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with construction, engineering, and program management teams.

Work Environment

The role operates within a commercial construction environment that requires close collaboration between project management, construction, and engineering teams, with a strong emphasis on MEP systems. The Sr Project Manager works in both office and project-site settings, managing multiple priorities, coordinating with various stakeholders, and overseeing project activities throughout the construction lifecycle.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $105.00/hr.
