Position: Project Manager – Mining Division
Reports to: Operations Team
Job Summary:
Loenbro Southwest is seeking a Project Manager for our Mining Division. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of our mining projects, from initial scope to final completion, ensuring they are on time, on budget, and meet quality and safety standards. This role involves managing budgets, timelines, and milestones in mining operations, coordinating with various teams, and acting as the primary client contact for mining projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is fundamentally accountable for supervising mining projects and directing all assigned resources. This includes overseeing mining contractors, equipment vendors, and internal teams comprising superintendents, engineers, and coordinators. The Project Manager guides the project team, delegates tasks, ensures adherence to MSHA and company safety standards, and validates that work is completed on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Coordination: Coordinate directly with Pre-Construction Department and define project objectives for mining operations. Develop detailed project schedules and key milestones for mine development, equipment installation, and processing plant operations. Present project cost and schedule updates to executive management monthly. Assist in budgeting, bidding, and awarding contracts for mining contractors and equipment suppliers.
Safety & Compliance Leadership: Coordinate with Safety Department to ensure all company policies and MSHA regulations are followed, with emphasis on mine safety, confined space entry, and hazardous material handling. Work with QA/QC to define inspection and testing requirements for mining equipment and processing systems. Ensure all documentation meets MSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Resource & Equipment Management:
Monitor and coordinate resources through Project Superintendent. Coordinate with Procurement to ensure all mining equipment, processing materials, and safety equipment are available. Manage equipment utilization and track mining production progress against project specifications.
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as primary client contact and identify all project stakeholders including mine operators, regulatory agencies, and equipment manufacturers. Clearly communicate
expectations during operational handoff meetings and weekly production meetings. Develop and deliver progress reporting and follow up on accounts receivable.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Assess risks related to ground stability, equipment failure, and environmental compliance. Manage and execute change orders when needed. Conduct project reviews at completion and ensure all regulatory requirements and closeout procedures are met.
Team Leadership: Participate in hiring mine staff and create a safety-focused team environment. Conduct pre-shift meetings with all mining personnel. Utilize project management systems for tracking production schedules and monitoring safety performance across multiple mining operations.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Possesses strong understanding of mining operations including open pit and underground methods
· Comprehensive knowledge of MSHA regulations and mine safety standards
· Understanding of mining equipment including haul trucks, drills, crushers, and processing plants
· Ability to read and understand mine plans, geological surveys, and equipment schematics
· Experience with mineral processing and material handling systems
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
· Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
· Ability to function well in a high-paced mining environment
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
· Valid driver license required
· Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
· At least five years of mining project management experience required
· MSHA certification and previous supervisory experience in mining operations
