The Sr. Business Analyst reports to a Sr. Software Engineering Managerand performs system and business analysis activities, and collaborates with business partners and development teams. Supports long-term business and technology strategies in areas that require a high level of technical competency and business acumen.
Location: The successful candidate will work in a hybrid capacity between our Home Office in the Greater Seattle area, and remotely. Candidate must live within driving distance of our offices and have high-speed internet (internet speed test required).
Hiring Range:$101,547 - $114,020*
Salary Range:$101,547 - $127,719

Responsibilities
- Exemplify behaviors that support our IT vision and beliefs.
- Perform Quality Assurance activities in support of the software development process, and act as a champion for quality.
- Build and leverage domain expertise in solving complex business problems.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to identify technology solutions for business problems.
- Collaborate with the Agile team to develop, refine, and implement user needs.
- Inspect and refine the team’s processes in collaboration with the team and Product Owners.
- Collaborate to define/refine the acceptance criteria for user stories along with the Product Owner and the Agile team, and execute test and functional cases to ensure their completion.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to remove blockers, refine stories, plan Sprints, and review functionality with our business stakeholders.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of our testing practices and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Provide production support for applications/services to internal and external customers.
- Provide demos of work in front of large groups of stakeholders and team members.
- Role may include opportunities for specialized and/or temporary assignments.
- May be called on to work outside normal business hours.
- May provide informal leadership and facilitation within the assigned team.
- Identify, understand, and plan for organizational and human impacts of planned systems or system modifications, and ensure that new technical requirements are properly integrated with existing processes and skill sets.
- Develop and maintain a deep awareness of how a business operation works and help stakeholders explore technology possibilities to more effectively execute their roles.
- Provide informal leadership, facilitation, and mentorship within the assigned team.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous underwriting or business analysis roles in the Farm & Commercial Property & Casualty space
- Demonstrated ability to develop high-level systems and functional specifications.
- Ability to maintain a high level of quality control standards and apply standards in all aspects of testing, research, and throughout the software development life cycle.
- Ability to be effective in both remote and corporate settings.
- Knowledge of insurance industry practices preferred.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with teammates, stakeholders, and other partners in both written and verbal formats.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to train, mentor, and guide team members
- Versatility of skills and abilities, and comfort with change.
- Highly developed business acumen that allows analytical competence to be demonstrated across multiple domains.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills—able to connect rating, coverage, and system behavior

Nice to Have
- Experience leveraging AI tools (Claude Code/Desktop, Chat GPT, etc) to complete tasks
- Experience with or exposure to spec-driven development practices, including writing clear, testable, and unambiguous requirements
- Exposure to data analysis or querying (e.g., SQL) is a plus
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Professional certifications (e.g., AIS, AINS, CPCU) preferred
- 5+ years' business and systems analysis, testing, or related experience.
- 5+ years’ experience with requirements gathering and creating workflows and project plans.
- Experience in the insurance industry is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies.
- Experience with applications and services provided in AWS or other cloud providers is preferred.
- Experience with Test Automation is strongly preferred.
- Experience with project management concepts.
