Job Title: Senior SQL Developer
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid: Tuesday–Thursday Onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior SQL Developer to design, build, and support enterprise data solutions that drive reporting, analytics, and system integrations. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server—particularly SSIS, SSRS, and advanced T-SQL—along with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will begin by supporting and learning legacy systems, gaining a strong understanding of how data supports core business processes. This knowledge will then be applied to modern enterprise reporting platforms and a new SaaS solution. Success in this role depends on curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, high-quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
SQL Development & Data Engineering
- Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, views, and functions
- Build and maintain SSIS packages for ETL, data integration, and migration
- Develop and support SSRS reports, dashboards, and data models
- Ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity across all database solutions
Business Partnership & Analysis
- Collaborate with business users to understand workflows, reporting needs, and operations
- Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
- Serve as a trusted advisor by communicating technical concepts in business-friendly terms
- Quickly learn and document business processes within legacy systems
Legacy Systems & Modernization
- Support and analyze existing legacy databases, reports, and integrations
- Document data structures, transformations, and embedded business logic
- Lead or assist in migrating legacy systems to modern reporting platforms and SaaS solutions
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize data architecture
Enterprise Reporting & SaaS Enablement
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enable reporting from SaaS platforms
- Support data extraction, transformation, and validation during SaaS adoption
- Ensure continuity of critical reporting during system transitions
- Promote best practices in data governance, documentation, and reporting standards
Collaboration & Quality
- Work closely with developers, integration teams, and IT leadership
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployments
- Maintain clear documentation for data models and ETL processes
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Advanced expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
- Advanced expertise in SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
- Deep experience with T-SQL and complex stored procedures
- Proven ability to support and analyze legacy systems
- Experience with data/reporting modernization or migration efforts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise reporting or BI platforms
- Exposure to SaaS and cloud-based data environments
- Experience with PostgreSQL, especially in SaaS/cloud settings
- Knowledge of data modeling and performance tuning
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies
- Experience in environments undergoing digital transformation
