Job Title: Low Voltage Technician
Job Description

This role focuses on installing and servicing low voltage cabling and related infrastructure in a variety of commercial environments. You will perform hands-on work such as pulling and terminating fiber, coax, and CAT6 cabling, installing conduit and cable tray, and connecting cabling to data center and other large equipment. The position requires strong attention to safety and quality, the ability to follow instructions from a lead technician, and a commitment to building a long-term career in low voltage construction.

Responsibilities

• Install and service low voltage cabling systems, including fiber, coax, CAT5/CAT6, and control cables.
• Pull cable and wire through conduit, ladder racks, cable trays, and other pathways in commercial facilities.
• Connect and terminate cabling to data center equipment and other large electrical and electronic systems.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, specifications, and other service documents to complete installations accurately and to quality standards.
• Follow instructions and direction from lead technicians and supervisors to complete daily tasks and project milestones.
• Perform general labor activities such as material handling, site organization, and cleanup to maintain a safe and orderly job site.
• Assist with or oversee conduit installations and wire pulling activities as needed.
• Use scissor lifts, forklifts, and ladders to perform work at heights and access overhead cable pathways.
• Measure, cut, and install metal components such as ladder rack and related supports, including the use of band saws and other cutting tools.
• Utilize test equipment such as multimeters, butt-sets, toners/wands, and compression or crimp tools to verify cable integrity and proper terminations.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in various environments, including healthcare facilities, resorts, manufacturing plants, power stations, and office buildings.
• Maintain good communication with team members and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
• Ensure all work meets project specifications, reporting requirements, and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of true construction low voltage experience.
• Demonstrated experience with low voltage installation, including cable pulling and terminations.
• Ability to install and pull CAT6 cabling and connect it to large equipment and systems.
• Experience with fiber cabling, including pulling and connecting primarily fiber lines.
• Ability to work from and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical documents.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively read and write to complete documentation and follow instructions.
• Capability to work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces as required by the job.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds safely.
• Experience using scissor lifts and forklifts or willingness to learn and operate them safely.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, drywall saws, levels, tape measures, snips, pliers, hammers, cable strippers, crimping tools, flashlights, and gloves.
• Ability to use test and termination tools including multimeters, butt-sets, toners/wands, and coax compression or hex crimp tools.
• Self-motivated and positive approach to work with a professional image on job sites.
• Interest in building a long-term career in low voltage construction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification required before starting work.
• Experience with low voltage controls work and related systems.
• Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) installations.
• Experience with EPM (CAT6 Electrical Power Management Systems) or similar power management cabling.
• Ability to install and work with conduit for low voltage systems.
• Experience installing and pulling Cat5 or Cat6 cabling in commercial environments.
• Ability to measure and cut metal components accurately for ladder racks and supports.
• Capability to utilize a band saw and other power tools safely and effectively.
• Ownership of a basic set of personal tools appropriate for low voltage and ladder rack work.
• Experience working outdoors and handling both hand and power tools in varying site conditions.
• Consistent work history and good tenure in previous roles, demonstrating reliability and commitment.

Work Environment

The work environment is within an electrical contractor and technologies company of approximately 400 employees, delivering projects across diverse commercial settings. Typical sites include healthcare facilities, resorts and hotels, manufacturing plants, power stations, and small office buildings, offering exposure to complex and modern infrastructure. Most work follows a Monday–Friday schedule with a 5:00 a.m. start and approximately 10-hour days, resulting in a 50-hour workweek with overtime after 40 hours. Technicians frequently work on active construction sites, at heights on ladders or lifts, and occasionally in confined spaces, both indoors and outdoors. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, test equipment, scissor lifts, and forklifts, with a strong emphasis on safety practices and compliance. Attire is typical of a construction and electrical environment, with appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment required to meet site and safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
