Pride Health is hiring Specimen Processing - Referral Representative I - 3rd shift to support our client’s medical facility based in Pittsburgh PA 15220. This is a 3-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Title : Specimen Processing - Referral Representative I - 3rd shift
Location: Pittsburgh PA 15220
Duration: 3 months+
Shift: 3rd 9pm-5:30am EST
Pay rate : $21.85 per hour
*Pay rate is strictly based on years of experience and educational qualifications.
### Specimen Processing & Referral Testing
* Retrieve, sort, and process specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.
* Verify specimen quality and accuracy, including checking for:
* Correct specimen type
* Adequate quantity
* Proper temperature conditions
* Complete and accurate information
* Prepare and package specimens according to IATA shipping regulations.
* Research test availability and coordinate with referral vendors.
* Respond to customer, client, and vendor inquiries related to:
* Test results
* Service issues
* Referral testing concerns
* Communicate tests not performed (TNPs) and laboratory incidents to clients within 24 hours.
* Investigate and resolve complex referral testing issues.
* Provide timely updates and maintain excellent customer service standards.
* Report laboratory results using established procedures.
* Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation.
* Escalate reportable quality incidents to supervisors when necessary.
* Ensure all communication and documentation are completed thoroughly and accurately.
* Follow all laboratory safety and compliance standards, including:
* CLIA
* HIPAA
* OSHA
* Laboratory safety protocols
* Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
* Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety controls.
## Required Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
* 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
* Good problem-solving and communication skills
* Proficiency in:
* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
* Data entry and documentation
## Preferred Qualifications
* Customer service experience
* Medical or healthcare background
* Familiarity with medical terminology and referral testing processes
## Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand and work for extended periods
* Frequent walking and standing
* Ability to lift and carry:
* 1–10 lbs frequently
* 11–25 lbs occasionally
* Up to 50 lbs with assistance when needed
## Work Environment
* Clinical laboratory environment
* Regular handling of biological specimens and potentially hazardous chemicals
