Your Role
The Specialist, Product Development is an individual contributor responsible for supporting the development and execution of projects, prototypes, and specialty builds across the team’s runway, VIP, and custom initiatives. This role partners with internal cross-functional teams and external vendors to help bring special collection pieces to life, ensuring clear communication, timely material sourcing, and on-schedule progress throughout the development process. The position guides end-to-end development workflows, including progress tracking, follow-up, and issue resolution to keep complex, fast-moving workstreams on track. This role also contributes to the organization, tracking, and maintenance of show archives. Reporting to the AVP Creative Atelier, and collaborating closely with the Senior Manager Art Direction, the role requires strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of garment construction and execution, and the ability to operate with sound judgment within a defined scope while working under guidance and direction.

Your Impact

  • Collaborate on the development of tech packs and build documentation for external vendor production, including sketches, measurements, construction details, swatches, and reference materials.
  • Facilitate fabric and trim sourcing and materials R&D to identify appropriate options for custom and specialty development.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to support clear communication of build requirements, timelines, and development needs.
  • Monitor project progress against key milestones, maintaining development calendars and supporting follow-up to help keep workstreams on schedule.
  • Track sample status and revisions throughout the development cycle.
  • Aid in documenting construction details, fit feedback, and development notes following fittings and reviews.
  • Ensure development aligns with design intent, quality standards, budget, and timeline expectations.
  • Resolve development issues by supporting alignment between creative intent and technical execution.
  • Contribute to cost tracking against project budgets, maintaining expense logs and assisting with financial visibility across initiatives.
  • Collaborate with research on materials, techniques, references, and potential vendor partners to support ongoing innovation and capability building.
  • Coordinate shipping and logistics for samples, materials, and development assets, particularly with external vendors.
  • Prepare and organize samples, swatches, fittings, review materials, and presentation assets.
  • Maintain organized records of project documentation, contracts, development notes, and vendor files across shared systems and drives.
  • Manage archive maintenance and access in the New York studio, including pulling, organizing, and tracking pieces loaned for projects and internal requests.
  • Facilitate tracking and documentation for off-site archive storage and movements.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare agendas, take notes, and distribute recap materials to support clear communication and follow-through.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal partners, vendors, and contractors to support seamless handoffs and communication

Minimum Salary: $88,200.00
Maximum Salary: $117,285.00

VS&Co provides a range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic region, or other relevant factors.

Qualifications

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Fashion, Apparel Product Development, or a related field
  • 3-5 years professional experience in product development or apparel production. Experience with custom or specialty development preferred
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, materials, and fabrication techniques required; experience with lingerie or complex embellishment preferred
  • Ability to interpret and communicate construction details and development notes clearly to vendors and internal partners
  • Experience supporting tech pack development, sample tracking, and revisions throughout the development cycle
  • Familiarity with fabric and trim sourcing, and new material research and development
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track details, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to support cost tracking and maintain visibility into project budgets and expenses
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, shared digital systems, and Keynote required; familiarity with Illustrator and Photoshop preferred
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work across creative, technical, and operational partners
  • Professional, dependable, and accountable in managing responsibilities and deadlines
  • Maintains a constructive, solutions-oriented approach and performs effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while adapting to shifting project needs
  • Ability to work in our New York City office required
