Special Education Teacher

Special Education Teacher (SDC, K–2) – Sunnyvale, CA | 2026–2027 School Year (1st Semester)

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a temporary leave assignment in Sunnyvale for the first semester of the 2026–2027 school year. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team and make a meaningful impact in an early elementary setting.

Position Details

• Location: Sunnyvale, CA
• Schedule: 7.5 hours/day | 37.5 hours/week
• Setting: Special Day Class (SDC), K–2
• Caseload: 9 students
• Classroom Support: 2 paraprofessionals assigned

Compensation

• Local Pay: $55.85–$60.00/hour
• Travel Pay: Up to $2,526/week (gross)

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction in an SDC classroom (mild/mod)
• Deliver individualized, goal-driven instruction aligned with IEPs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with IEP requirements

Requirements (Must Have)

• California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate)
• Required: Prior SDC classroom experience
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Ability to effectively manage a small caseload with varying needs
