Teacher Vision
Pharos Academy Charter School is looking for a teacher who is an “uber” kid person. The ideal candidate absolutely loves to teach, train, and push students both academically as well as behaviorally. There is an understanding that messing up and failure is a natural and welcomed part of the learning process. In this teacher’s classroom, all students are treated with dignity at all times and students are taught non-academic skills like hard work, collaboration, kindness, and receiving feedback.
PHACS Special Education Model
Pharos Academy follows an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) Model in Elementary/Middle grades. Our SPED teachers specialize in and support primarily with 1 core content area (ELA or Math). Key responsibilities of a SPED teacher include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting 1 grade band (ie; K-2nd, 6th-8th, 11th-12th) in their core content area.
- Collaborating with lead teachers to co-plan lessons & create modified lesson plans based on IEP goals.
- Developing, modifying, and/or updating IEPs in a timely manner.
- Assessing student’s individual skills and educational needs.
- Monitoring student progress in order to ensure students are on track to meet IEP goals.
*Our HS SPED Model follows a hybrid SETTS/ICT Model, and teachers can support more than one content area, depending on the needs of the students.

Qualifications
- At minimum, Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Education related major (concentration in English Literature or Mathematics a plus).
- Certification in Special Education (Candidates working on certification are welcome to apply).
- Experience working with school-aged children in an academic or youth development setting.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
*Pharos Academy offers a performance-based salary structure. Compensation is earned based on measurable performance benchmarks, rather than tenure. The salary range for this role is $80,000–$115,000, with the opportunity to earn up to $145,000 over time once Mastery is reached. Starting salary for new or emerging teachers is $80,000. Candidates with 4+ years of experience at a high-performing K–12 school may be eligible for a higher starting salary based on sustained performance and demonstrated results related to our tiered benchmarks.
