Note: American Board’s HQ is located in Atlanta, GA. This is not a remote position. Candidate will be responsible for working in office, in Atlanta. This is a full-time, in office position.


American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (American Board) is hiring a Special Education Instructional Specialist. American Board serves career changers who want to become teachers by providing a pathway for teacher certification. Currently operating in 16 states, American Board is looking for a team member who will help ensure American Board's Special Education course materials are rigorous. Ideal candidate must be exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven.


The Special Education Instructional Specialist will be a full-time position working in American Board's Headquarters office, near the Emory Campus in Atlanta, Georgia.


*Details*

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the academic integrity of American Board’s Special Education certification program. This includes aligning course materials with national and state standards, incorporating best practices in instruction, supporting exam development and revisions, and ensuring that Special Education teacher candidates are prepared to succeed in the classroom.


This role requires a deep understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and instruction, as well as the ability to collaborate with multiple teams. The successful candidate will have a background in education and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for future teachers.


*Primary Responsibilities*

  • Oversee curriculum and instructional content for teacher certification
  • Review and revise study materials to ensure academic rigor
  • Ensure program alignment with state standards
  • Works closely with other departments (Government Affairs team) to ensure content meets state requirements
  • Paperwork processing as needed


*Qualifications*

  • Willingness to work in office, in Atlanta, GA
  • Background in K-12 education, Special Education
  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven


Job Types: Full-time, Salary

Pay: $60,000-$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Expected hours: 40 hours per week, in office

  • Bachelor's (Required, education degree preferred)
