Job Summary
The Sourcing Engineer will act as the technical bridge between our engineering team and our supplier base, overseeing sourcing activities for new product development and ensuring cost-effective, high-quality components. Key responsibilities include evaluating supplier technical capabilities, conducting cost analysis, and negotiating, as explained in the Sourcing Specialist Job Description.
Key Responsibilities
• Supplier Selection: Research and identify potential suppliers, conducting technical evaluations, sampling, trials, and audits.
• Technical Liaising: Collaborate with SQE’s, Engineering, Sourcing teams to define technical requirements and ensure supplier compliance with specifications.
• Cost Management: Identify cost-reduction opportunities and develop Value Engineering with suppliers.
• Contract Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers, implement sourcing agreements.
• Project Management: Manage sourcing activities relating to product development and ensure timely delivery of parts.
• Risk Reduction: Proactively identify potential supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
• 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or engineering, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of cost drivers and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and analytical tools.
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with electronics manufacturing-SMT industry commodities.
• Understanding of technical drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 audit standards, UL and FM requirements.
• Experience with SAP.
• Certified in APICS: CPIM/CSCP.
