Software Test Engineer (Automation Focus | Telecom Systems)

Why this role exists
We’re looking for a Software Test Engineer who can step into a complex telecom environment and help modernize how testing is done.
Right now, there’s a real opportunity to close automation gaps, reduce manual testing, and strengthen CI/CD-driven quality practices for our direct client's broadband push-to-talk and desktop communication systems.
This is a hands-on role where you won’t just execute tests—you’ll help shape the testing approach.
What you’ll do
- Identify gaps in current test automation coverage and propose solutions
- Design and build automated testing frameworks from the ground up
- Create and maintain automated test cases across functional and regression testing
- Develop test plans and structured testing approaches for engineering teams
- Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
- Support nightly build validation and release readiness
- Perform manual testing when needed to ensure full coverage
What you bring
- Strong Python scripting experience
- Hands-on PowerShell experience
- Selenium experience for UI automation
- Jenkins experience for CI/CD integration
- Background in test automation framework development
- Experience with both manual and automated testing
- Ability to write clear test plans and test cases
- Solid understanding of SDLC / STLC
- Experience working in Agile environments
Nice to have (strong plus)
- Wireshark or network troubleshooting experience
- Nessus or security vulnerability scanning
- Server / infrastructure validation experience
- Experience with telecom, VoIP, or push-to-talk systems

Logistics
- Location: Allen, TX (Hybrid – Tues/Wed/Thurs onsite, Mon/Fri remote)
- Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Duration: 3–6 month contract (extension possible)
