Handi Quilter is looking for a customer-obsessed Software Product Manager to lead the planning and delivery of meaningful improvements to our software application experience. In this executive-facing role, you will own a rolling 12-month feature release plan, translate customer and business needs into clear requirements, and partner closely with Engineering and Creative to deliver high-quality capabilities on a predictable cadence.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end Pro-Stitcher software experience (UI/UX, workflows, learnability) to reduce friction and improve customer outcomes.
- Maintain a rolling 12-month release plan aligned to customer value, technical feasibility, and business priorities.
- Lead discovery and delivery: identify pain points, validate solutions, and ship capabilities that increase user value.
- Develop concise business cases with problem, outcomes, assumptions, success metrics, and impact.
- Write clear requirements (epics, user stories, acceptance criteria) for Engineering and Quality to execute confidently.
- Prioritize platform and infrastructure work to sustain performance, reliability, and security.
- Align partners (Marketing, Creative, Quality, Engineering, Sales, Customer teams) for launch readiness and adoption.
- Run the release rhythm: plan scope, manage go/no-go, communicate risks/dependencies, and close the loop post-release.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software product management experience, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Proven ability to define, implement, and refine product through continuous customer research, iterative improvements, and customer testing.
- Strong understanding of best practices for developing and maintaining software applications, including quality, reliability, and iterative delivery.
- Experience partnering with Engineering teams to assess risks, dependencies, and mitigations.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and synthesize user feedback (customers, internal teams, analytics) and generate enhancements that address pain points without bias.
- Strong written communication skills, with experience creating business cases, product briefs, and executive-ready updates.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Marketing, Creative, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and customer-facing teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience shipping customer-facing mobile, desktop, or embedded-connected applications.
- Hands-on experience with modern product discovery techniques (customer interviews, usability testing, experimentation) and translating learnings into roadmap decisions.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and common tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Figma or similar).
- Experience working with hardware-adjacent products or enthusiast communities (a plus, not required).
How You Work
- Customer-first and data-informed: You seek diverse input, validate assumptions, and use evidence to prioritize.
- Structured and execution-oriented: You create clarity through roadmaps, milestones, release cadences, and crisp requirements.
- Executive-ready communicator: You can distill complexity into clear options, decisions needed, and tradeoffs.
- Collaborative partner: You align stakeholders across Marketing, Creative, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Customers.
- Pragmatic about risk: You surface risks early, propose mitigations, and protect delivery commitments while maximizing value.
Measures of Success
- Predictable releases: Ship on cadence with clear scope, readiness, and visibility into risks and dependencies.
- Quality and stability: Fewer escaped defects and production issues; improved reliability and performance over time.
- Workflow outcomes: Measurable friction reduction and higher success rates in core quilting workflows.
- Roadmap alignment: A current, understood 12-month plan balanced across value, feasibility, and priorities.
- Adoption and engagement: Increased usage validated by telemetry/analytics and customer feedback.
